Model of the Month Club: March

This month the right sidebar is dedicated to Anais Mali, a 20 year old French model who walked every major runway from New York to Paris.  Her exotic look was able to translate seamlessly between Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Givenchy and Missoni, to name a few.

Recently she was featured in Vogue and Italian Vogue, and was the face of Levi’s.  I have a feeling there will be much more of that to come.

Stella McCartney Window

I took these pictures about a month ago in the Meatpacking district.  At first I just thought the Moschino windows were funny, which is why I began taking pictures, but then I got down to Alexander McQueen and was literally awe struck.  Three dresses from his final collection were standing before me.  So obviously I went inside and it took everything I had not to touch the dresses.  Seriously, everything.

I went back a few days later and there were different dresses in the window, it must have been a rotating collection.

The shadow on the Stella McCartney window kind of ruins it, but I love the graphic from the ad with Natalia Vodianova.

Golden Ticket

Lanvin for H&M is going to have a fashion show on November 19 in the Pierre Hotel.  I am Charlie Bucket and this is my golden ticket.  My Wonka Factory if you will.  I really need to know who I need to pay off, bribe, charm, etc. to get this ticket.  While it obviously is not the actual Lanvin show, it is the closest I will come to seeing it (until I am EIC of Vogue).

After this fabulous fashion show, the line will then premiere in Las Vegas (really…?) three days before it opens anywhere else.  Therefore my camping date has been changed to Nov. 22 so that I can be waiting outside H&M when the doors open the morning of the 23rd.

To tide me over until then, a new picture has been released, this time there is color involved.

I. Can’t. Wait.

I feel like a child weeks before Christmas (please don’t ask why my past few posts have been about Christmas when I am Jewish…).  I have that anxious, excited feeling and I am so ready to tear open those presents.  And in this case presents means H & M’s doors on November 20.

Yes, yes we know Alber Elbaz is a god to me, and Lanvin is Mount Olympus.  I suppose that makes H &  M my shopping mecca because the two are teaming up to create the most fabulous line, well, ever.

I wanted to save this post until some images of the clothes came out and today they were all over the internet.

First there was the video with Natasha Poly, with the clothes blurred out of course, but now we have an advertisement!  A printed image of four models in seriously chic black clothes.

I am counting down the days until November 20.  I am saving all my money and not shopping until then so that I can buy every single piece.

Karlie Kloss Takes Over the World

Karlie Kloss

I think it is time I devote a post to Karlie Kloss.  This is mainly because she is everywhere.  Opening runway shows, doing advertisements, being featured in editorials.  And she is only 17.  And grew up in Missouri.  No big deal.  She is also 6 feet tall.

Am I envious? Jealous of this doll faced girl traversing the globe wearing the most beautiful clothes imaginable?  Well yes, maybe a little bit.

But I have to hand it to her, she’s good at what she does, she has an interesting look to her, and she is such a chameleon.  One day she will look like a carefree teenager, 16 years old at best, and then a few hours later with a little mascara and some blush she is a Dior vixen twice her age.

Let’s examine some of her best magazine work, both ads and editorials:

Sonia Rykiel for H & M

Oscar de la Renta

Dior

Marc Jacobs

Hermes

Chloe

And the runway:

Valentino

Lanvin

Karl Lagerfeld

John Galliano

Jean Paul Gaultier

Jason Wu

Hermes

Dolce and Gabbana

Christian Dior

Chanel

Carolina Herrera

Armani

Why do I love these so much?

I own three pairs of jeans, two of which I rotate fairly regularly.  I’m just not a jeans girl, and because of that I don’t really see the point in spending hundreds of dollars on a pair of them.  Until now.  I have fallen in love with a pair of jeans.  I never thought I would see the day but it has happened.  And of course they are about $371.  Go big or go home I guess.

They are the Hudson “Jag” Jeans, named I am guessing after their model Georgia May Jagger.  The advertisement itself has gotten quite a bit of publicity, and has been deemed by those not in the fashion world as controversial.  We know that topless ads are no longer such a big deal when Tom Ford comes around with his infamous Gucci ads.

I love that they are edgy without trying too hard.  They are for a chic anglophile, which I suppose describes me to a T.  They are my perfect jean, except for the price of course.  But I have a feeling they aren’t that difficult to make.  Another summer project?
