Let’s be honest, I am not a Dolce and Gabanna kind of girl. I don’t dress up in a leopard print bustier daily, though I am all about the red lipstick. Now, this is nothing against the designers or the designs in general, it just really is not my personal style. I find that it is often too matchy-matchy and sexy, and they have the tendency to be slightly gaudy. But, that works for certain people, and I have come to terms with the fact that I am just not their customer.
That said, I loved their Spring 2011 collection. The pieces in white lace were gorgeous and the epitome of Spring time. Though the transition into the black and cheetah print pieces were nice, they were not in my mind the stars of the show. However, the black look with Alessandra Ambrosio is beautiful. (Speaking of which, they had amazing models!)
There were 80 looks in all, which I feel is a bit much and difficult to edit down, but I managed to get my favorites down to 20 ensembles.
I never thought I would be posting a Dolce and Gabbana collection here, but apparently there is a first time for everything!
Models walk in fashion shows, this is a part of their job description. Supermodels used to walk in shows all the time back in the 90’s, recently they have been more limited to editorials and advertisements. Giles Deacon decided to change this. He was obviously influenced by the Prada and Louis Vuitton shows last Spring, but he decided to take it to the next level.
The models in the Giles show were the top names in the industry. Opening the show was Agyness Deyn followed by Bambi, a few models later new mother Alessandra Ambrosio strutted, in a bikini no less. Then there was Karolina Kurkova, Lindsey Wixon, Chanel Iman, Behati Prinsloo, Jessica Stam, Dree Hemingway, Kasia Struss, and Coco Rocha. But then comes the true surpise, the heavy hitters which have walked in quite some time, Stella Tennant and Veruschka.

For those who don’t know, Veruschka is 71 years old, and one of the first super models popular in the 1960’s.
And Stella Tennant is now 40 years old, and is a very popular British model known for her androgynous look.
There was something else quite surprising featured on the Giles catwalk. Curves. He was following the hourglass trend from last season and amplified it in his dresses.
