To Dye or Not to Dye

That is the question.

I feel this deep need to do something drastic with my hair.  Maybe not even drastic just something, anything.   My  hair is in the “growing out” stage, and I am too scared to cut it a la Carey Mulligan and too indecisive to pick a “normal” color to dye it.

Then I was re-inspired when I saw Eva Chen’s Tumblr (Beauty Director at Teen Vogue) and all of her beautiful images backstage at the A/W 2011 Fashion Week with the model’s colorful dye jobs.  Last Spring this was a trend as well and I want to do it then too, but I had just gotten my hair done at the Frederic Fekkai salon and I was nervous the dyes would not react well together.

My problem is that I don’t want it to look “punk” or like I am trying to be something I clearly am not, I just want it to be fun and chic!  I also can’t decide if it will look awkward because my hair isn’t very long, it’s about mid shoulder now.  Though, if on a whim, I do end up doing it one random night, I think a light lilac or baby pink would be best with my strawberry blond hair…though I do love the pistachio on the model below.

The one above of Dree Hemingway is my favorite.  Maybe I will just go all out and bleach my hair then dye random strands and the tips.

Pixie Perfect

Though I usually prefer models on the cover of magazines, Emma Watson gracing December’s issue of British Vogue is completely fine with me and I kind of love it.

She looks like a modern Twiggy with her cropped hair and big doe eyes.  I won’t even mind paying $10 for this issue of the magazine, Emma Watson takes beautiful pictures and I have a feeling her editorial in the magazine will go above and beyond.

I feel like she, and Carey Mulligan on the cover of American Vogue, are still pressuring me into cutting my hair like theirs, but I don’t know if I could pull it off as amazingly as they do.

And here is Carey Mulligan’s cover story for October’s Vogue styled by Grace Coddington:

Do I Do the Do?

I am obsessed:

Emma Watson looks beyond stunning, and so grown up!  No one is going to call her Hermonie Granger anymore with those doe eyes and amazing hair cut.

I also love Mia Wasikowska’s, she looks so edgy and chic.  It completely changes her innocent demeanor.

And then, of course, there is Carey Mulligan’s haircut.  The one that started it all.

Educate Me

Movie Poster

I finally saw the movie An Education last night and fell in love with it, but that was inevitable.  The story (a memoir) was great, the acting (especially Carey Mulligan) was wonderful, and the costumes were to die for.  Every scene I found my self wanting each and every one of the lovely dresses and boxy jackets.

And I am not the only one who feels this way, both Vanity Fair and Vogue thought the costumes were exceptional.  They were the epitome of the 1960’s done in a way that didn’t look costumey, but instead perfectly natural.

Sometimes I think that I was supposed to be born in 1945, so that I would be 15-25 during the 60’s and able to wear all of the gorgeous clothes.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the movie, enjoy Mulligan in all of her adorableness.

Day.18.

Whatever tickles your fancy

We all know I love award shows and red carpets so it is only fitting that I dedicate this day to the Cannes Film Festival 2010.

Along with fashion and clothes and things of that nature I am also slightly obsessed with movies (and TV, and theater…).

I try to see as many foreign films as I can, and I usually get most of my newest movie obsessions from the Cannes Film Festival.

But I also get my fashion fix.  Below are my favorite ensembles of the festival so far (it still has another week), hopefully I can be there myself one day.

Carey Mulligan:  I love how classy and bright she is, in my opinion she leaves all of the other “starlets” in the dust with her great dress choices and elegant ensembles. (Plus I love her boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf)

Cate Blanchett:

Lea Seydoux: I think she is one of the best newcomers in the movie industry.  I thought she was great in Inglourious Basterds and her fashion choices are very interesting, and of course very French, which is much needed.
