Turkey a la Mode

Vogue Turkey is one of my newest obsessions.  Though it is a baby in the magazine world, only having been in existence since March 2010, I feel it is quickly rising and even surpassing other much older fashion magazines.  And with Karlie Kloss, Jessica Stam, and Victoria Beckham on the covers it has a very promising life ahead of it.

I think I am attracted to this bohemian, carefree lifestyle.  Where long billowy skirts and messy hair is the norm, and red is introduced into every ensemble.  Below are some of my favorite spreads from the magazine, I only hope that they will continue to be this visually stunning.

Giles Shows Us the Unimaginable

Models walk in fashion shows, this is a part of their job description.  Supermodels used to walk in shows all the time back in the 90’s, recently they have been more limited to editorials and advertisements.  Giles Deacon decided to change this.  He was obviously influenced by the Prada and Louis Vuitton shows last Spring, but he decided to take it to the next level.

The models in the Giles show were the top names in the industry.  Opening the show was Agyness Deyn followed by Bambi, a few models later new mother Alessandra Ambrosio strutted, in a bikini no less.  Then there was Karolina Kurkova, Lindsey Wixon, Chanel Iman, Behati Prinsloo, Jessica Stam, Dree Hemingway, Kasia Struss, and Coco Rocha. But then comes the true surpise, the heavy hitters which have walked in quite some time, Stella Tennant and Veruschka.

For those who don’t know, Veruschka is 71 years old, and one of the first super models popular in the 1960’s.

And Stella Tennant is now 40 years old, and is a very popular British model known for her androgynous look.

There was something else quite surprising featured on the Giles catwalk.  Curves.  He was following the hourglass trend from last season and amplified it in his dresses.

Model Citizens

Everyone wants to dress models.  Remember it is their job to wear clothes.  Therefore some of the best dressed at the MET Costume Institute Gala on May 3, were the models.  Don’t believe me?  Just take a look below at the stunning ensembles.

My favorite, Coco Rocha in a dress designed especially for her by Zac Posen.

Doutzen Kroes also in a custom designed dress by Zac Posen.

Joy Bryant in Marchesa.

Jessica Stam in Rachel Roy.

Karlie Kloss in custom Donna Karan.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry.

Lily Donaldson in Marc Jacobs.

Alessandra Ambrosio in Versace.

Caroline Trentini in Vintage.

Sasha Pivovarova and Kemp Muhl in Marni with Sean Lennon.

So I have this little Obsession…

I have a confession.  I love ads.  I am obsessed with fashion advertisements. I have them plastered all over my wall, floor to ceiling, door to window.  They are the last thing I see before I fall asleep and the first thing I see when I wake up.  They are fabulous.  So far I have been a bit disappointed with the ads this season but I have hope that they will be more original and alluring over the summer and of course in September. However, here are some of my favorites of the season:

Prada:

I adore these Prada ads, I even bought new lipstick to try to recreate the look, which resulted in the swelling of my lips to disproportionate sizing because I am apparently allergic to Sephora brand lip gloss.  But it looked cute…

Prada Campaign

Aldo:

Aldo brought in one of my favorite models, Jessica Stam, and photographer Terry Richardson in for their most recent ad campaign.  I love the cutesy, girliness of  Stam’s modeling in contrast with Richardson’s very stark almost harsh photography.  And it was nice of him to let her keep all of her clothes on.  (Just google “Terry Richardson, controversy” and you will immediately see what I mean).

Jessica Stam

Hermes:

Hermes is such an iconic, classic brand which I happen to have a deep love for.  And with Jean Paul Gaultier designing the collections, that just makes it even better.  I have always loved the ads (especially the winter ones with another of my favorite models, Raquel Zimmermann, which I will post at a later date) and the newest ones star Karlie Kloss, American top model at the ripe young age of 17. These Spring advertisements are all based off of Disney movies, try and guess which one’s they are!

My absolute favorite.
