Thank God for Rachel Zoe

Well, kind of.

This past week I have been obsessed with finding the perfect pair of skinny green pants, cargo-esque.  However, I am not prepared to spend $6,540 on the amazing leather Balmain ones (obviously) and I really, really don’t feel like saving up money for the J Brand ones at $225.  (And since my last pair of J Brand leggings ripped after a few weeks in a rather unfortunate place at a rather unfortunate time, I am not very inclined to save for them.)

So this morning, I get a personal email from Rachel Zoe (okay, I subscribe to her emails, whatever) and apparently I am not the only one with this military obsession.  She is too!

In her emails called “The Zoe Report” she picks an item each day that she “loves” and writes about it and such but then at the way bottom of the email there is a part that is called “Parallel Universe” which is a lower priced item similar to the expensive designer one.

So there are now green cargo pants at Lucky Brand for $79.95, and though they aren’t nearly as cute as the other two pants it is still a much better price and a total possibility.

I think this shows that Rachel Zoe and I have ESP…or a similar fashion sense, either of which I am perfectly fine with.

Balmain pants that started it all.

The Single Most Fabulous Night of the Year

I have been waiting quite a while to write this post, though I do wish I was covering the event from inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Yes, last night was the MET Costume Institute Gala and I cannot even express how much I wish I was there.  It’s not even the vastness of celebrities that make me yearn to go, it is the clothes.  The custom designed gowns, the unique pieces that will only be seen once, the extravagance of the couture.  That is why I want to go, but Joshua Jackson doesn’t hurt either.

Let’s start with the color trends:

Metallics

From left to right; Claire Danes in Burberry, Anne Hathaway in Valentino, Brooke Shields in Michael Kors.  I like Danes and Hathaway’s the best, I think it fits them beautifully and they are both interesting, elegant pieces.

From left to right; Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs, Donatella Versace in her own design, Anna Wintour in couture Chanel.  While I am not a huge Richie fan, I love the Marc Jacobs dress on her and the Chanel is perfect for Wintour and her slim frame.

Erin Featherston in her own design.

Marion Cotillard in Dior couture.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Halston.

Color:

Christina Hendricks in L'Wren Scott

Naomi Watts in Stella McCartney

Rachel Zoe in Marc Jacobs.

Rachel Weisz in Oscar de la Renta.

I will have more pictures up later in the day.  Including the worst of the evening.

September Can’t Come Soon Enough

Fashion’s night out last year was incredible.  I got to see and meet so many amazing people from Rachel Zoe to Andre Leon Talley, even Coco Rocha doing Irish Step Dance for Donna Karen in her DKNY store.

This year it is scheduled for Friday, September 10th but on September 7th NYC will host it’s largest fashion show ever, comprised of 200 top models and looks from designers Fall 2010 lines.  Oh and you can go.  It is open to the public, for a fee of course.  1,500 lucky fashionistas can purchase tickets this summer for what is sure to be one of the greatest fashion shows in existence.  And a portion of the proceeds will go New York City AIDS Foundation.

VOGUE, who put’s on the whole event, promises to make this years FNO even bigger and better than last years which will be a hard act to follow.

Last Year's FNO Shirt

This year's FNO shirt.

I’m sorry to say that I really really don’t like the FNO shirts this year! I loved the ones last year, they were super soft and comfy and I bought mine at Bendel’s so I got a much coveted Bendel’s bag to put it in.  But this year they are so graphic and boring.  I don’t think they represent fashion or NYC at all.  While I am disappointed, I will of course buy one, I hope to have a collection of all of the original shirts over the years.  I just hope next years shirts can live up to my expectations.
