Dear Sarah,

It is public knowledge that I love Sarah Jessica Parker.  She can do no wrong in my eyes.  I don’t think I have ever said a bad thing about SJP.  Until now.  And I honestly cannot believe I am doing this, but fashion takes no prisoners.

Yesterday, I was casually looking on the French Vogue website, like any other girl my age does, when I happened across a picture.  It was a bad picture and an even worse dress.  I wanted to see who was wearing this unattractive dress in public so I innocently clicked on the image.

And then my world came crashing down.

It was Ms. Sarah Jessica Parker.  The creator of Carrie Bradshaw.  Fashion Icon.  Style Maven.  Insert cliche fashion phrase here.

Now, SJP isn’t the only one to blame, the dress was Valentino haute couture, so I suppose some of the blame must rest in the current Valentino designers hands.

To me, it looked like a very well made junior prom dress with poorly done hair and make up.  If she wanted to make this sunshine yellow dress work, I think that the hair needed to be pulled up in a tight bun (which she pulls off so well) and the makeup needed to be a bit brighter, she looks washed out in this image.

Now the dress, with it’s high side slit awkwardly up to her knee and then a long train on the other side, is not good for her (or her fashion image) at all.  I also really don’t like the neckline, I think it makes her look shorter and just completely cuts off her chest.

And now for the picture:

I do understand that it is not an ugly dress, it is Valentino, Valentino dresses are very rarely ugly, however this is Sarah Jessica Parker we are talking about, she usually does much better than this.  My problem with the choice is that the dress is not fashion forward, it is not a new fresh designer, it does not scream avant-garde or even fun for that matter. Frankly, I am disappointed.

Closet Envy

Of course I am moving out of NYC the day that one of the single greatest shopping events is occurring, I mean it is just my luck right?  Not that I would be able to afford the Manolo Blahniks or Chanel jackets worn by the great Carrie Bradshaw, but just to see them, or dare I say, touch them would be enough of an honor.

On May 22 begins the Decades Two/Haute Look shopping event like no other.  They have rented out a 400 square foot apartment in Chelsea and have made a pop up store, or rather four pop up closets, one for each of the stars of Sex and the City.

Yes, that is right, the closets will be filled with both items from the actual set and identical pieces no longer sold in stores.  And the owners of Decades Two (a fabulous vintage clothing store based in L.A.) have also picked out a few of their own pieces that they believe Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha would love to wear.

Below is a preview of what it will look like, except on a much grander scale of course.

And here are some of the items they will be selling.  Try and guess which of the girls they belonged to.

Christian Louboutin Shoes

Day.3.

Your favorite television program

So this is another difficult post to write.  I am mildly addicted to television so I don’t know if I can pick a favorite T.V show.

I loved Pushing Daisies it was my absolute favorite show, but of course it was canceled after a couple of seasons.  It was a very sad day when I found this out.

I watch Fringe, Flash Forward, LOST, Modern Family, Top Chef, and 30 Rock religiously, every week.  And I will always watch Friends and Sex and the City whenever it is on.

But Pushing Daisies had the most adorable costumes, the best writing, and fast-paced talking/acting I have ever seen (aside from West Wing).  Anna Friel and Lee Pace’s chemistry and love affair was one of the cutest ever on screen. (Oh and I am head over heels in love with Lee Pace) The show was beyond brilliant and severely addicting and it will forever be missed.
